The sun orientation of freshly colelcted and laboratory-born individuals from several beaches along the Ligurian, Tyrrhennian, Adriatic and Ionian Seas were compared. The inheritance of orientation, shown by the orientation performances of laboratory-born idividuals, was related to the stability of shorelines.
