The inheritance of direction finding in sun orientation was demonstrated in nine populations from three beaches from Mediterranean coasts. The orientation of laboratory-born individuals was compared with that of freshly collected adults adults. The study demonstrated both a phenotypic plasticity during individual life and genetic variation among and within natural populations.

Abstract
