The occurrence of abandoned mines represents a potential source of heavy metal pollution. In this paper we report the results of environmental studies carried out in different mining areas of Tuscany, with main focus on the mineralogical, pedological and geochemical features of soils developed within and immediately outside the mining areas.

Abstract
