A method combining a genetic algorithm optimization process with FEM analysis is presented for the minimization of the return loss from bent waveguides. The use of nonuniform rational B-splines to describe the bend profile provides great flexibility to the geometric model with a small number of parameters to optimize. This leads to the design of bends with extremely low return loss over a wide frequency band.

Abstract
A method combining a genetic algorithm optimization process with FEM analysis is presented for the minimization of the return loss from bent waveguides. The use of nonuniform rational B-splines to describe the bend profile provides great flexibility to the geometric model with a small number of parameters to optimize. This leads to the design of bends with extremely low return loss over a wide frequency band.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
