A new in vitro method for the study of drug rectal absorption is described. Important physiological parameters (temperature, amount of rectal liquid, liid barrier acting as rectal mucosa, plasmatic circulation) are simulated. This method was employed for the study of acetylsalicylic acid diffusion from various types of suppository bases.
