Solid dispersion of ibuprofen in urea were prepared by the solvent method. The solid state properties of such systems were investigated by differential thermal and X-ray diffraction analyses.The system proved to be an eutectic mixture with eutectic composition of 90% ibuprofen and 10% urea.The solid dispersions showed a marked increase in drug dissolution rate with resect to the pure drug. The importance of the solubilizing effect of urea in the enhancement of drug dissolution was also evaluated.
