This paper focuses on the relationship between rhetorical strategies in Agrippa’s ‘feminist’ treatise and its broader theological aims. Particular attention is devoted to the controversial interpretation of Eve’s sin which some scholars regarded as heretical. The eulogy of female sex is functional in Agrippa’s challenging scholastic theology, his most radical view being that contemporary culture of misogyny is nourished by the Canonists’ authoritarian reading of the Christian message.

Abstract
This paper focuses on the relationship between rhetorical strategies in Agrippa’s ‘feminist’ treatise and its broader theological aims. Particular attention is devoted to the controversial interpretation of Eve’s sin which some scholars regarded as heretical. The eulogy of female sex is functional in Agrippa’s challenging scholastic theology, his most radical view being that contemporary culture of misogyny is nourished by the Canonists’ authoritarian reading of the Christian message.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
