Until recently, however, methods for the determination of 6β-OH-cortisol in urine were cumbersome and unreliable, being based upon paper chromatography or chemical oxidation followed by gas chromatography. A method based on liquid-liquid chromatography has been recently described by Roots et al. We have independently developed an alternative liquid-liquid chromatography fractionation procedure that has some advantages over the published one, and this will be described here
