Abstract

In this paper, with the aim to move a first step toward a simplified computational tool for the dynamic analysis of slender no-tensile structures, a comparison between different techniques for reliability assessment is presented. A simplified 2D model of a typical slender no-tensile structure, a masonry chimney f.i., under turbulent wind speed has been developed. A finite element commercial code (ANSYS) and an automatic procedure implemented under MATLAB, are employed for a comparison between the linear and the nonlinear behaviour.
