The IXth century codex Vat. gr. 1, containing the second part of the opera omnia of Plato, reproduces a late antique edition of Plato's last Tetralogies. The great number of philologically minded marginalia (almost 400), added in the XI century and introduced by sigla regularly misinterpreted by the copyist (and also by modern scholars) provide so far unexpected insights into the remnants of ancient textual emendations (diorthoseis) on Plato's Leges and Epinomis: the alleged references to the book of patriarch Photius must be intended as references to an ancient edition of Plato owned by a late antique Patrikios.

Abstract
The IXth century codex Vat. gr. 1, containing the second part of the opera omnia of Plato, reproduces a late antique edition of Plato's last Tetralogies. The great number of philologically minded marginalia (almost 400), added in the XI century and introduced by sigla regularly misinterpreted by the copyist (and also by modern scholars) provide so far unexpected insights into the remnants of ancient textual emendations (diorthoseis) on Plato's Leges and Epinomis: the alleged references to the book of patriarch Photius must be intended as references to an ancient edition of Plato owned by a late antique Patrikios.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
