The aim of the paper is to specify and ¯t a multilevel model for a polytomous response in presence of potential selection bias. The work is motivated by the analysis of the way of acquisition of the skills of university graduates. In order to taking into account the features of the data, a suitable multivariate multilevel model for polytomous responses with a non-ignorable missing data mechanism is developed and ¯tted by means of maximum likelihood with adaptive Gaussian quadrature. In the application the multilevel structure has a crucial role, while selection bias results negligible.

Abstract
The aim of the paper is to specify and ¯t a multilevel model for a polytomous response in presence of potential selection bias. The work is motivated by the analysis of the way of acquisition of the skills of university graduates. In order to taking into account the features of the data, a suitable multivariate multilevel model for polytomous responses with a non-ignorable missing data mechanism is developed and ¯tted by means of maximum likelihood with adaptive Gaussian quadrature. In the application the multilevel structure has a crucial role, while selection bias results negligible.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
