The pergola and the "velarium" in mediterranean countries

As part of a theme addressed in the Prin of 2005 (The presence of Italian architects in the Mediterranean countries, national coordinator Benedetto Gravagnuolo) the report investigates the Mediterranean influences very evident in the work of some Italian architects. In a speech that includes the revisitation of Pompei, a charm inspired through architecture and the landscape of Capri’s or of Sorrento’s Peninsula and the colonies in Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, we consider some solutions for pergolas, blinds and curtains that affect designers such as Libera, Michelucci, Pellegrini, Ponti, Rava and we investigate their application in constructions or in projects of the thirties, in the colonies or in homeland.
