This paper illustrates possible interventions, conceived with the aim of reducing the noise of generating sets, and the results obtained. The methology and the procedures employed, with the indications obtained from theoretical analysis, are extendable to a vast range of industrial machines. The approach described has been applied to some generating set presenting a high value of sound power in order to reduce it accordingly with the value provided by the recent normative. The implementation of the method described in the paper concern both of the design of a new frame of the machines and the devising of new acoustical muffler.

Abstract
