The paper describes an approach for the automatic design of multilayer trim materials. The method is based on a genetic algorithm capable to optimize the material properties of a specific multilayer structure or to design from scratch the best multilayer configuration once solely the number of layers is provided. The optimization objectives can be the transmission loss or the absorption of the trim material or a combination of these properties. The method was applied to several test cases and it was always capable to derive improved configurations.

Abstract
The paper describes an approach for the automatic design of multilayer trim materials. The method is based on a genetic algorithm capable to optimize the material properties of a specific multilayer structure or to design from scratch the best multilayer configuration once solely the number of layers is provided. The optimization objectives can be the transmission loss or the absorption of the trim material or a combination of these properties. The method was applied to several test cases and it was always capable to derive improved configurations.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
