The aerodynamic redesign of a mixed-flow pump stage was carried out by means of CFD analyses. The goal of this process was to improve the stage efficiency and suction capability over the whole working range. The original configuration was first analyzed and critical elements affecting its performance were identified. Then, impeller and diffuser were redesigned in successive steps. Their geometry was handled in a parametric way by means of a few one-dimensional parameters and Bezier curves. As a result, the present analysis not only provided an improved stage configuration but also highlighted the effect of the main geometrical parameters on pump performance.

Abstract
The aerodynamic redesign of a mixed-flow pump stage was carried out by means of CFD analyses. The goal of this process was to improve the stage efficiency and suction capability over the whole working range. The original configuration was first analyzed and critical elements affecting its performance were identified. Then, impeller and diffuser were redesigned in successive steps. Their geometry was handled in a parametric way by means of a few one-dimensional parameters and Bezier curves. As a result, the present analysis not only provided an improved stage configuration but also highlighted the effect of the main geometrical parameters on pump performance.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
