Long rail roughness measurements are provided by draft standards on noise emission and are a common practice but no protocol is currently available to take advantage of the great amount of information made available by them. The paper reviews current standards and procedure for short measuring equipment and extend them, proposing a new analysis procedure for long measurements. Practical examples are illustrated, showing the applicability of the protocol and its efficiency.

Abstract
Long rail roughness measurements are provided by draft standards on noise emission and are a common practice but no protocol is currently available to take advantage of the great amount of information made available by them. The paper reviews current standards and procedure for short measuring equipment and extend them, proposing a new analysis procedure for long measurements. Practical examples are illustrated, showing the applicability of the protocol and its efficiency.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
