This paper discusses the results of an experimental analysis performed on 1:2 scale models of brick and lime-cement mortar arches, reinforced by strips of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) with different widths and put on the intrados surface. The models were subjected to a concentrated load placed asymmetrically to one quarter of the span. The trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of reinforcements as a function of the variation in width, in relation to the determined mechanical parameters and the highlighted collapse mode.

Abstract

This paper discusses the results of an experimental analysis performed on 1:2 scale models of brick and lime-cement mortar arches, reinforced by strips of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) with different widths and put on the intrados surface. The models were subjected to a concentrated load placed asymmetrically to one quarter of the span. The trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of reinforcements as a function of the variation in width, in relation to the determined mechanical parameters and the highlighted collapse mode.
