The urban architecture of Lamezia Terme is characterized by particular con-struction techniques based on adobes, stones and fired bricks mixed systems. The existing build-ings, which are a relevant part of the cultural identity of the region, require appropriate mainten-ance and restoration interventions. In order to provide a scientific support to such interventions, a wide study was carried out by the Department of Constructions of the Florence University. It aims to preserve this unusual composite construction technique through the analysis of the mechanical and technical performance of the buildings located in the city center of Lamezia Terme. In particular one building currently subjected to restoration works by the Local Administration, has been identified as case study. A number of observations can be made about the different constructive techniques employed and the relevant problems, the mechanical properties of such heterogeneous masonry material, the conservation and restoration works for the safeguard of traditional urban heritage.

Abstract
A number of observations can be made about the different constructive techniques employed and the relevant problems, the mechanical properties of such heterogeneous masonry material, the conservation and restoration works for the safeguard of traditional urban heritage.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
