Edge detection techniques are of high interest in many digital image processing areas as biomedicine, remote sensing, robotics, etc. In this paper some of the best known algorithms of edge detection (Roberts, Sobel, Kirsch, etc.) are briefly reviewed. Experimental results obtained by application of some of them are then presented and a test on efficiency is done regarding the thickness and time processing.
