Los editores de Pinocho: Paggi y Bemporad

Il saggio ricostruisce la storia editoriale di due fra gli editori fiorentini più accreditati nel campo delle edizioni scolastiche ed educative, Paggi e Bemporad, fra cui è esistito un rapporto di continuità, in quanto Roberto Bemporad, genero di uno dei due fratelli Paggi e già in azienda dagli anni Sessanta, assunse la gestione della casa editrice, insieme al giovane figlio, Enrico, nel 1889. Vengono accuratamente evidenziate le scelte editoriali, in alcuni casi davvero innovative, che segnarono la fortuna e il prestigio della casa editrice, il cui inesorabile declino cominciò durante il fascismo, a causa delle politiche del regime e della prolungata crisi che investì il settore, ma anche per scelte un po’ troppo intraprendenti di Enrico. The essay reconstructs the publishing history of two of the foremost Florentine educational publishers, Paggi and Bemporad; there is a continuity between these two because Roberto Bemporad, son-in-law of one of the Paggi brothers and a member of the firm since the 1860s, took over management in 1889, together with his son Enrico. Careful attention is paid to the publishing decisions, some of them truly innovative, that gave rise to the prestige of the publishing house, whose inexorable decline began under Fascism, caused by the policies of the regime and by the prolonged crisis that affected the whole sector, but also by the rather too entrepreneurial choices made by Enrico.
