Pollen analyses were carried out on roof tile fragments collected in the ancient Pompeii city center (Casa dei Casti Amanti) and from a Villa rustica in Scafati, near Pompeii. The roof tiles were covered by the lapilli of the Vesuvian eruption of the 79 AD. The results are comnpared with the archaeobotanical data from Pompeii and surroundings.
