The design, development and integration of new Advanced Driving Assistant Systems (ADAS) and In-Vehicle Information Systems (IVIS) requires knowledge of riders' needs and wants, firstly to identify what can really help riders to avoid accidents (needs), and then to find out which are the devices/improvements they want for their PTWs (wants). The Saferider approach to capture riders' needs and wants consisted in two different ways to identify needs and wants: a Focus Group with expert rider trainers to find out needs, and a Public Survey to investigate riders' opinions about usefulness of several ADAS and IVIS systems (wants).
