Abstract: The conservation of Pedunculate oak (Quercus pedunculata) stands in the territory of Parco Lombardo Valle del Ticino (province of Milano and Pavia): problems and possible silvicultural approach. In the territory of “Parco Lombardo della Valle del Ticino” an experiment, aimed to assess the silviculture pattern suitable for the conservation of stands dominated by Peduncolate oak, was set up in 2008. After a detailed literature review concerning the problems of oak natural regeneration, the main experimental lines are described. Four plots were set up, both in “meso-hygrophilous” and “mesophilous” site, respectively corresponding to: 1) less intense seed felling, 2) more intense seed felling (both of them aimed to promote the natural regeneration), 3) opening of gap (800 m2) followed by artificial regeneration, 4) control.
