Linkages between servitization strategies and sourcing decisions: a preliminary study

Building on previous research, we assume that manufacturers should decide the product-services to attach to their products based on two main drivers: the perceived products complexity and the perceived products criticality. In addition, we posit that the provision of product-services often requires manufacturers to make sourcing decisions. Hence, we propose a framework that links the typology of relationships that manufacturers should establish with their suppliers to the aforesaid drivers. Finally, we discuss the practical applications of the framework by means of four case studies.
