Abstract

In the last years enormous progress has been made in this direction, both on inorganic and molecular systems. One of the open questions is the possibility of exploiting light to affect the magnetic properties of metallic nanoparticles (NPs). We have now discovered that light irradiation of Fe:Au NPs induces changes in the magnetization and in the reversal process , demonstrating the achievement of novel photomagnetic nanostructures.
