In Eurocode 2 the design parameters for punching-shear are defined with reference to a conventional control surface in order to fit experimental evidence. The calibration of some parameters looks incomplete, like those concerning size effect and bond conditions for different transverse-reinforcement types, and some design rules are not exhaustive. Moreover Eurocode 2 rules for punching-shear do not consider the effects of cyclic loading in slab-column connections under seismic excitation. The paper highlights main inconsistencies of the EC2 formulation for punching-shear and gives some hints for extending this formulation to column-slab connection under seismic loads.
