Pienza, a Planned Vicus Transformed in a Town. Before Pienza, Corsignano

The paper reconstructs the complex events that determined the current urban structure of Pienza, a city known above all for the fifteenth-century intervention promoted by Pope Pius II and designed by B. Rossellino, which radically transformed the medieval layout of Corsignano (see A. Merlo et al, Pienza, a planned vicus that became a town, in the same volume).
