[Preliminary notes on the biospeleology of the Casentine Natural Reserves (National Park of Casentine Forests, Mount Falterona and Campigna) and neighbouring areas] Between 2006 and 2008 the authors of this study investigated 9 hypogean cavities in Casentine Natural Reserves and neighbouring areas. Despite the huge importance of these biotopes, the biospeleology of that area has not been sufficiently studied yet. During sampling activities, the authors collected 69 taxa identified at least to genus (10 Molluscs, 43 Arthropods and 16 Vertebrates) and other specimens not yet identified. Some of these species are protected and a few of them turned out to be very interesting: Niphargus sp. (Amphipoda, Niphargidae) a new species belonging to longicaudatus group, Vitrinobrachium baccettii Giusti & Mazzini, 1971 (Gastropoda, Vitrinidae) which is the first record in Emilia-Romagna, Simo variegatus (Boheman, 1843) (Coleoptera, Curculionidae), which is the first record in the Casentine Forests National Park.
