We present heterodyne detected transient grating measurements on water filled Vycor glass in the range of temperature 20-90 degrees at the wave vector q = 1 mu m(-1). The data have been analyzed with the model of Pecker and Deresiewicz, which enables a consistent physical description of the measured complex dynamics. Our experimental results confirm that the system is well described by hydrodynamic laws in spite of nano-metric dimension of the pores.

Abstract

We present heterodyne detected transient grating measurements on water filled Vycor glass in the range of temperature 20-90 degrees at the wave vector q = 1 mu m(-1). The data have been analyzed with the model of Pecker and Deresiewicz, which enables a consistent physical description of the measured complex dynamics. Our experimental results confirm that the system is well described by hydrodynamic laws in spite of nano-metric dimension of the pores.
