Differences among maternal responses to infant crying in the neonetal department were described. Italian and immigrant Chinese, and Albanian mothers showed the prevalence of distal soothing technics in Italian mothers while Chinese mothers did not show them. Chinese infants moreover cried less. The same descriptive categorization was used in Study 2 where Albanian mothers in Albanian hospitals were observed.
