The article, moving from the causes of the housing bubble that has firstly invested the United States and then Europe, focuses on the analysis of subprime mortgages. In this perspective, it analyses the different types of mortgages (traditional, exotic, non-traditional) pointing out their legal features. It considers, then, the European and Italian real estate sector, giving particular emphasis to the Italian regulation (T.U.B. and mortgages’ discipline).

Abstract
