In this study the effects of vibration produced by chainsaws in real working condition were investigated. In order to analyse the outcome of different factors on both vibration characteristics and forest workers exposure in chainsaw handling, the following aspects were considered: - chainsaw (three news and one already used chainsaws); - maintenance (the used chainsaw was used before and after anti-vibration mounts – AVMs -replacement); - types of chains (seven different chains has been tested for each saw); forest operators (chainsaw were handled by three forest workers with different training level and experience.) The chainsaw vibration were measured in softwood (Pinus radiata Don) cross-cutting operations. The main results were: - the significant reduction of vibration produced by the new models of chainsaws compared with the older one; - the chainsaw vibrations and then workers exposure are affected both by maintenance and type of chains; - the high variability of data in relation with different operators.

Abstract
The main results were: - the significant reduction of vibration produced by the new models of chainsaws compared with the older one; - the chainsaw vibrations and then workers exposure are affected both by maintenance and type of chains; - the high variability of data in relation with different operators.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
