We report difference frequency measurements on the spectrum of helium by phase-locking two DBR diode lasers at 1.08 μm. A mirror terminated extended cavity is used for narrowing the laser linewidth to few hundred kHz. Phase-locking between two narrowed lasers is then achieved up frequency differences of 40 GHz. From the investigation of the 23P helium multiplet we extract a preliminary value for the 23P0 – 23P1 fine structure splitting with an accuracy of 25 kHz, corresponding to 9 parts in 107.

Abstract
We report difference frequency measurements on the spectrum of helium by phase-locking two DBR diode lasers at 1.08 μm. A mirror terminated extended cavity is used for narrowing the laser linewidth to few hundred kHz. Phase-locking between two narrowed lasers is then achieved up frequency differences of 40 GHz. From the investigation of the 23P helium multiplet we extract a preliminary value for the 23P0 – 23P1 fine structure splitting with an accuracy of 25 kHz, corresponding to 9 parts in 107.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
