Abstract

A relatively small area has been studied around the Bullicame thermal spring (Viterbo, Latium): four soil and ten travertine samples were collected and analyzed. Collected data suggest a widespread presence of As in both soils and travertines of the Bullicame area. Arsenic is mainly associated in the Fe(Al) fractions in soils whereas in the travertine calcite and Fe-oxyhydroxides may behave as traps for the metalloid.
