A technique for the multiple fault location in linear analog circuits is presented. It is based on classical numerical procedures, but it strongly exploits the advantage of handling fully symbolic network functions. The usefulness of the developed algorithms is strictly bound to the testability of the circuit under test, that is to the number and location of test points in the circuit. The proposed procedure takes into account this aspect thanks to the symbolic approach. A software package which allows the full automation of the fault location in linear analog circuits has been realized and an example of its application is presented.

Abstract

A technique for the multiple fault location in linear analog circuits is presented. It is based on classical numerical procedures, but it strongly exploits the advantage of handling fully symbolic network functions. The usefulness of the developed algorithms is strictly bound to the testability of the circuit under test, that is to the number and location of test points in the circuit. The proposed procedure takes into account this aspect thanks to the symbolic approach. A software package which allows the full automation of the fault location in linear analog circuits has been realized and an example of its application is presented.
