The research work provides thermodynamics studies of buildings with particular attention to the characterization of energy efficiency systems and technologies for the exploitation and integration of renewable sources. The research addresses especially the civil field, from the building scale to the urban context. Research approaches involves numerical modeling and optimization, simulation software and experimental investigations. Obtained results are a useful too for urban energy program and energy efficiency development with particular attention to renewable energy use and application to built up urban area. Abstract

The town of Pisa (Tuscany, Italy) was the case study
