Industrial and medical CO2 (λ 10.6 μm) laser equipment necessitate primarily for real-time diagnostic systems of the laser beam for maintaining the optimal operating condition and secondarily for the early individuation of anomalies in the beam spot to avoid damages and failures in short times. In this work we present a versatile instrument that can be interfaced to different measuring modules provided with linear or matrix arrays of pyroelectric sensors. The instrument operates in stand alone mode and it is interfaced to different plug-in modules for the laser spatial intensity characterization and the for the laser pulse shape monitoring.
