The single-crystal ESR spectra of the base adducts of cobalt(1I) acetylacetonate with 6-methylquinoline, pyridine, and water have been recorded. The g values are in each case anisotropic, the g, splitting increasing on passing from 6- methylquinoline to pyridine and water. For the last case also the cobalt hyperfine splitting was resolved, and evidence of large second-order and nuclear quadrupole effects was found. The spin Hamiltonian parameters are discussed within an angular overlap formalism.

Abstract
The single-crystal ESR spectra of the base adducts of cobalt(1I) acetylacetonate with 6-methylquinoline, pyridine, and water have been recorded. The g values are in each case anisotropic, the g, splitting increasing on passing from 6- methylquinoline to pyridine and water. For the last case also the cobalt hyperfine splitting was resolved, and evidence of large second-order and nuclear quadrupole effects was found. The spin Hamiltonian parameters are discussed within an angular overlap formalism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
