Bleomycin (blm) solutions containing the nickel(II) ion have been investigated through 1H nmr, ligand field and circular dichroism spectroscopies. It has been found the blm binds the metal ion in a pH dependent fashion. The spectral data are consistent with the presence of at least two species. It is suggested that in the low pH region blm binds to nickel(II) through the β-aminoalanino residue, whereas in the high pH region, the 4-amino-pyrimidine, imidazole, and amido group of β-hydroxy-histidine are also involved in coordination.

Abstract
Bleomycin (blm) solutions containing the nickel(II) ion have been investigated through 1H nmr, ligand field and circular dichroism spectroscopies. It has been found the blm binds the metal ion in a pH dependent fashion. The spectral data are consistent with the presence of at least two species. It is suggested that in the low pH region blm binds to nickel(II) through the β-aminoalanino residue, whereas in the high pH region, the 4-amino-pyrimidine, imidazole, and amido group of β-hydroxy-histidine are also involved in coordination.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
