Abstract
Since the middle of the 19th century the need of a lithological samples collection for the surveying and documentation of the geological resources was felt. Strating from the institution of the new provinces of the Italian Reign in 1861, the "Regio Ufficio Geologico" sampled and preseved in its Museum and deposits materials from many quarries, some of them opened since ancient times. After more than a century, a special project is organized aimed at the recovery , inventory and characterization of the former Geological Survey of Italy lithologicla samples. The result would be the standardised filing of historical and the limits placed by environmental legislation favour a loss of a precoius heritage. The complete study of the lithological materials from the various Italian provinces would allow a multidisciplinary technicla, scientific and historical overall view of an important patrimony which does not deserve to be dispersed.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
