A new web site: geology, mineralogy and archaeometry of the Elba Island

A preliminary version of a new web site (linked to the pre-existing site http://www.unifi.it/unifi/msm/) of the geo-mineralogical and archaeometric features of the Elba Island is in preparation. The first page of the site consists of a sensible map of the island where are located some hypertext linkages in correspondence of the most relevant areas. Linkages allow to reach pages in which each area is described by text and photos of outcrops and samples. In future we plan to add description of the most significant geo-mineralogical and archaeometric patways through the island and compilation of a database, including an updated references list of geo-mineralogical papers concerning Elba, that may be reached by the most common search engines available in the next. An extension of this project to the other islands of the Tuscan Archipelago is also planned.
