The purpose of this work is to review recent PV Publish designs and identify issues that have arisen at the various stages of realisation or design process. The aim of this work is intended to help Municipalities technicians, clients, their agents, architects, engineers and specialists in order to considering PV installations as architectonico and technical building integration. Many of the issues identified through the study of 13 projects would be overcome, or reduced in consequence to those encountered in conventional construction, if action were taken by others (PV industries). This research is also intended to assist these bodies to work towards overcoming the current barriers to realising successful PV publish projects and, is so doing, encourage growth of PV in Italy. Another aspect analysed in the study of the projects is the bioclimatic properties of the chosen projects, to identify the best opportunities for successful projects implementations and to optimise, by new and conscious architectural design, PV systems buildings integrated to the point of construction drawing and detail in such a way that they blend in with the architectural design producing an architecturally satisfying result. The study of the architectural and energy design is realised with a very strong interaction so as to facilitate a holistic integration of PV and passive solar strategies into the design process. The cities involved in the projects analysis are Lucca, Pisa, Firenze, Pistoia e Livorno: all these cities are in Tuscany, and present similar climatic characteristics. The objective of Task 3-4 is to enhance the architectural quality, the technical quality and the economic viability of PV systems in the built environment and to assess and remove non-technical barriers for their introduction as an energy significant option. This report summarises the workplan for this contract, the Tasks 3, 4 and 5, and then discusses in more detail the progress made to date in the Task and the specific ABITA contribution. This is followed by a summary of undertaken dissemination actions, conclusions and recommendations section highlighting the benefits due to ABITA participation in the Task and making recommendations for further participation.
