La vegetazione del sito di importanza comunitaria e regionale «Sasso di Castro e Monte Beni» (Alto Mugello, Toscana Settentrionale ): aspetti fisionomico-floristici (con carta in scala 1:10.000).

The vegetation of the Community and Regional Importance Site «Sasso di Castro - Monte Beni» (Northern Tuscany): physiognomic and floristic aspects. A vegetation survey of the European Community Importance Site «Sasso di Castro - Monte Beni», an important Northern-Apennine ultramafic area, was carried out by means of aerial photo study with GIS technology and investigations in the field. The survey led to the recognition of several vegetation types described on the basis of physiognomic structure and dominant species. A synthetic vegetation map is reported; the pdf file of the vegetation map at the scale 1:10.000 can be downloaded at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15732686/carta_veg_M_Beni_Sasso_Castro.pdf. Finally we point out to the high naturalistic value of this area by listing vegetation habitats of conservation relevance.
