Long-chain hydrocarbons may easily be identified by positive-ion chemical ionization using acetonitrile as reactant gas in an ion trap, due to the favoured formation of [M+CH2CN]+ cations. The results are practically independent of manifold temperature, indicating that the ions produced are thermally more stable than the usual [MH]+ species generated by reaction with protonating media.

Abstract
Long-chain hydrocarbons may easily be identified by positive-ion chemical ionization using acetonitrile as reactant gas in an ion trap, due to the favoured formation of [M+CH2CN]+ cations. The results are practically independent of manifold temperature, indicating that the ions produced are thermally more stable than the usual [MH]+ species generated by reaction with protonating media.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
