Strength assignment to vertical resisting elements is the crucial focus of optimal design criteria for plan-asymmetric building structures. However, the complexity of inelastic seismic response and the amount of parameters influencing the behaviour of irregular buildings compared to their elastic counterparts still lead to a lack of general conclusions on torsional effects in the inelastic range of behavior. In this study, a parametric analysis has been conducted aimed at evidencing the influence on torsional response of some key inelastic structural parameters representing plan-distribution of strength. Some interesting results have been found for both moderately and extremely torsionally-stiff structures.

Abstract
Strength assignment to vertical resisting elements is the crucial focus of optimal design criteria for plan-asymmetric building structures. However, the complexity of inelastic seismic response and the amount of parameters influencing the behaviour of irregular buildings compared to their elastic counterparts still lead to a lack of general conclusions on torsional effects in the inelastic range of behavior. In this study, a parametric analysis has been conducted aimed at evidencing the influence on torsional response of some key inelastic structural parameters representing plan-distribution of strength. Some interesting results have been found for both moderately and extremely torsionally-stiff structures.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
