Aims of the study was to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of resistin in human hepatic stellate cells (HSC). Preliminary data indicated that resistin up-regulates the expression of the pro-inflammatory chemoldne, MCP-1, and that inhibits HSC proliferation and migration in response to PDGF-BB. Resistin also induces a rapid and transient increase in intracellular calcium concentration. Resistin exerts pro-inflammatory actions in human HSC, by activation of a pathway requiring calcium influx and NFk-B.

Abstract
Aims of the study was to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of resistin in human hepatic stellate cells (HSC). Preliminary data indicated that resistin up-regulates the expression of the pro-inflammatory chemoldne, MCP-1, and that inhibits HSC proliferation and migration in response to PDGF-BB. Resistin also induces a rapid and transient increase in intracellular calcium concentration. Resistin exerts pro-inflammatory actions in human HSC, by activation of a pathway requiring calcium influx and NFk-B.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
