In this paper the mechanical characterization of a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is reported, performed using both transient and periodic experiments. The constitutive model is compared with the ones described in Van Duser et al. (1999) and D’Haene & Savineau (2007) for Butacite and Saflex PVB respectively. As a cost-benefit analysis, the appropriateness of determining mechanical parameters with various laboratory tests is discussed in the light of the computational models available in the calculation codes, of the load conditions that it is neces-sary to reproduce.

Abstract
In this paper the mechanical characterization of a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is reported, performed using both transient and periodic experiments. The constitutive model is compared with the ones described in Van Duser et al. (1999) and D’Haene & Savineau (2007) for Butacite and Saflex PVB respectively. As a cost-benefit analysis, the appropriateness of determining mechanical parameters with various laboratory tests is discussed in the light of the computational models available in the calculation codes, of the load conditions that it is neces-sary to reproduce.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
