Although the effects of goal commitment on task performance are well documented in the literature, its relationship to change-oriented behaviors remains unclear and poorly investigated. Addressing this issue, this study investigates the link between goal commitment and innovative work behavior (IWB), and identifies flexible role orientation (FRO) as a boundary condition that would strengthen its effects on individual innovativeness.

Abstract

Although the effects of goal commitment on task performance are well documented in the literature, its relationship to change-oriented behaviors remains unclear and poorly investigated. Addressing this issue, this study investigates the link between goal commitment and innovative work behavior (IWB), and identifies flexible role orientation (FRO) as a boundary condition that would strengthen its effects on individual innovativeness.
