The association has been studied between some opportunist pathogenic species of Vibrionaceae and three water crustacean taxa (Copepoda, Isopoda and Amphipoda) from River Arno. The exoskeletons of specimens of Crustacea were examined under S.E.M. and subsequently subjected to microbiological analysis. Live active bacteria were found in 73.6% of specimens. Microbiological analysis revealed the presence of V. cholerae non-O1 and aeromonas spp. respectively in 26.3% and 63.2% of the specimens examinated. The capacity of the vibrios to hydrolize chitin was also assessed.

Abstract
The association has been studied between some opportunist pathogenic species of Vibrionaceae and three water crustacean taxa (Copepoda, Isopoda and Amphipoda) from River Arno. The exoskeletons of specimens of Crustacea were examined under S.E.M. and subsequently subjected to microbiological analysis. Live active bacteria were found in 73.6% of specimens. Microbiological analysis revealed the presence of V. cholerae non-O1 and aeromonas spp. respectively in 26.3% and 63.2% of the specimens examinated. The capacity of the vibrios to hydrolize chitin was also assessed.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
