Modern far-infrared and sub-millimeter instruments require large number of detectors located in the region of focus of an optical system. This paper tries to give a rigorous formulation of the power received by each antenna element of the array in a focalization system for THz imaging. It permits to value the relative performance of different antenna solutions for coupling the incoming THz signal to each direct detector when isolated or distributed sources are observed.
